More about you Monday

What can I say- I'm not very good at rules so instead of Monday, I'm doing this on Tuesday. Next week I'll  try to be better. Promise.

1. I just recently dyed my hair dark (really dark) brown, and I love it!

2. I am totally over the Easter Bunny, but I'm afraid if I tell the kids he's fake they'll be less likely to believe in Santa Claus.

3. My favorite place to have a dirty martini is a local gastropub called The Salted Pig. It's only 10:00 am and I want one now.

4. After three months of boot camp, I am finally seeing noticeable results. In the last three and half weeks I've lost 4lbs!

5. I got my Hellobox surprise from Niki yesterday and loved it! She was so thoughtful and even included something for the boys. What a sweetheart!

Charles Matthew Edward Coy

Three years ago today, you joined our family.

It was love at first site.

We didn't know how much we missed you, until you were here.

You helped us realize we had so much more love to give.

We are blessed beyond words.

Before we know it you'll be going on dates

And driving cars

And venturing off to see what the world has to offer

You'll make mistakes

You'll get into messes

And we'll be here to love you through it all.
All the joy
the fun
the hurt
the excitement
the scary
the unknown
the dissapointments
the wonderful

You'll never be alone. Because Daddy, Mommy, Owen and Oliver will always be here for you.
We're in this together.
We love you Bucket.
We love you love you love you.

Happy Birthday

Favorite Stuff Friday

I used to do this every Friday but I haven't for awhile. While funds are limited here in the Coy household, trying out new products every week is a thing of the past. So for now, I am giving thanks for some of my favorite free things:

Alarm clock feature on cell phones
I hate alarms. Nothing is more irritating than being scared  awake. My heart does not like to go from “resting” to “Get your shit and get out of the house because this b*tch is going up in flames! Go! Go! Go!”

I like to be gently coaxed into waking up. You know, via a harp or soft jazz flute.  Maybe even a wind chime.

I married a jerk guy who likes to hit the snooze button for an hour before finally waking up. So, to the person who thought it wise to have an alarm clock  feature on a cell phone and then took that feature  one step further and included ear-pleasing sound bites-Thank you. You have made my life more tolerable.

Lindsay Lohan
Because Let's be honest, anyone's life looks awesome compared to hers. Sister is going through a real rough patch. I feel so sorry for her that I have added her to my prayer list (alternating Thursdays and the third Monday of every month!)

When I am down and out, I take comfort in knowing that even celebrities who make gazillions of dollars have a rougher go of it than I do.

Good Hair Days
Because, let's be honest. A good day is a GREAT day if your hair is cooperating.

Instagram
Without this app, the vainglorious ladies of the world would have only facebook as their narcissistic outlet.

Also,  I just LOVE looking at what everyone is having for dinner. And what their pet is doing. And vacations.

But what I love most of all are the #hashtags. Boom! I just hashtagged, hashtags. I feel so awesome right now.

Have a good Friday! I'm off to get my hair did.

Ask 20 questions, get 19 and a half answers

I don't have an "About Me" page, but if I did- you might find some of this information on it. I may or may not have found these questions by googling "20 get to know you questions". My lameness knows no bounds.

1. When you looked at yourself in the mirror today, what was the first thing you thought?
"This will have to do".

2. What were you doing at midnight last night?
Sleeping. This answer made the part of me that remembers what it's like to be 20 years old sad.

3. What's a word that you say a lot?

When talking to people, I like to throw in words that  sound dirty, just to get a rise out of them. For instance, I might say " I just masticated the eff out of that mac n' cheese". I realize that I didn't really answer the question, but this is my blog, I'll do what I want.

4. What is your job?

Senior Trader. I could explain it to you, but you're better off just googling it.

5. When is the last time you laughed? About two hours ago when Owen and Charlie made their own Harlem Shake video.

6. Which Disney character do you like best?
I am indifferent to all Disney Characters. But, you know what I don't like? Grown women that wear Disney characters on sweatshirts. That shit freaks me out.

7. Can you roll your tongue?
This is a dumb question.

8. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would you choose?
Are we allowing variations of this one food? Like, can I say chicken and have BBQ chicken on Monday, Chicken Parmesan on  Tuesday, left-over chicken Wednesday and maybe chicken noodle soup on Thursday? Would that work? If so, I pick chicken based solely on its versatility.

9. What's your favorite song at the moment?

I've never heard two twin lesbians harmonize better.

10. Do you twirl your spaghetti or cut it?
I eat it

11. Favorite Alcoholic drink?
Dirty Martini, extra dirty.

12. Any tattoos or piercings?

One tattoo that I strategically placed on the backside of me so that I wouldn't have to look at it if later down the road I decided it was awful. #goodforethoughtcrystal. Yes, I just hash-tagged that on my blog. I'm not sure how I feel about that yet.

13. Do you do any kind of drugs?
Nyquil is my drug of choice.

14. What would you change about yourself?

So many things....but I haven't got all day, so lets move on.

15. Something you envy about the opposite sex?
Their pickle jar opening abilities. It's amazing, really.

16. Would you ever take someone back if they cheated on you?

**see answer to #7

17. What would you say about your last ex?
I have been with Bryan for almost 20 years. I should have nothing to say about any ex of mine after 20 years. Wouldn't you agree?

18. Biggest turn off?

Farts. Bad body odor. Grown adults wearing cartoons on sweatshirts. All tied for 1st on biggest turn off.

19. Have you ever made a sex tape?
We went from favorite Disney character to sex tapes. This is the worst 20 questions list ever.

20. Worst thing you have ever done to someone? Made them read this crap. I'm really sorry about this. Really. (Sincerity is so hard to gauge over the internet, wouldn't you agree?)

The Things I've learned since 1998

I posted this picture to my Instagram today, in honor of throw back Thursday.
 I love #tbt. So much.

I've learned a lot since then.

1)Bryan does not look good in white, cream, eggshell, mother of pearl, or the like. It should be noted that I made Bryan wear that white shirt so we could "coordinate", obviously failing to realize that it blended in with his natural pale complexion, making him look near death.

2)Save your jean dresses- even if you purchased said dress in the kids section of Mervyn's. That shiz will always come back in style.

3) Let someone who knows what they are doing shape your eyebrows. (WTF, 1998 Crystal?!?!)

4)If God did not give you the misfortune of being born a ginger, that should tell you something.
Its hard to tell, but my hair was an unnatural, disgusting bright red color here, and it was not cute.

5)Speaking of hair-the only person that can pull that style off is 1991 Jason Priestly. 1998 Bryan should have known better.

6) If you spend $24.99 for photos, expect $24.99 worth of quality.

7) If Bryan can love you and the way you  looked in 1998- he can love you no matter what you look like now.

8) Things certainly do get better with age!
33 year old Bryan > 18 year old Bryan

A sweet surprise

I received this today from my future sister in law, whom I adore. Of course, I said yes!

I love that my brother found someone who is such a perfect match for him. And I think it's pretty awesome that her and I get along so well, too. I've thought of Jasmine as a sister-in-law for a few years now, but I am ecstatic to be there for her during the wedding planning process and feel incredibly blessed and honored to stand next to these two wonderful people as they start life as Mr. and Mrs.

I can't wait for next spring or summer!!!
